Updates on Wage Subsidy Program

Last week, the federal government provided more details regarding the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) program.

TheFAQhas been updated. Some items to note include:

  • The government has approved regulations that allow all the rules for claim Period 4 (June 7 to July 4, 2020) to be identical to the rules for claim Period 3 (May 10 to June 6, 2020);
  • New rules for claim Period 5 and claim Period 6 will be announced shortly;
  • Discussion and examples relating to sick pay, vacation pay and statutory holiday pay and whether they are included in eligible remuneration; and
  • The recourse process when CRA denies part or all of the wage subsidy amount claimed by an employer.
