Update on Wage Subsidy & Rent Assistance

Last week, the federal government announced the extension of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) and released more details on the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA).

Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)

  • The CEWS program will be extended by three months to the end of August 2020;
  • The 30% revenue decrease requirement is being reviewed to not hinder growth as the economy reopens; and
  • New proposed amendments to provide flexibility for employers of existing employees who were not regularly employed in early 2020, such as seasonal employees.

Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA)

  • The CECRA page has been updated to include additional information on eligibility criteria and FAQ.
